    1. C-Rate = Your Battery’s Discharge Speed

    The C-Rate measures how fast a battery charges or discharges relative to its total capacity:

    • 0.5C = Full cycle in 2 hours (e.g., 5 kW for a 10 kWh battery).
    • 1C = Full cycle  in 1 hour (e.g., a 10 kWh battery discharging at 10 kW).
    • 2C = Full cycle in 30 minutes (e.g., 20 kW for a 10 kWh battery)


    2. Why 0.5C Dominates Home Energy Storage?

    Most home batteries (like Tesla, SVC) operate around 0.5C. Here’s why:

    1. Battery Lifespan: High C-rates (e.g., >1C) cause heat buildup, accelerating degradation. 0.5C balances speed with longevity

    2. Perfect Timing: Most homes have 2-4 hour windows of cheap electricity (night) and expensive electricity (day peaks). 0.5C matches these windows perfectly charge cheap, use during expensive hours.
